Students' Unit Reflective Feedback (SURF)
Student’s Unit Reflective Feedback (SURF) is a survey that allows you to provide feedback to teaching staff on the way a unit has been taught. Your answers are anonymous.
The SURF surveys are delivered electronically through the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS).
Each SURF survey you complete will consist of the same 6 questions set by the University. You will need agree or disagree to these questions on a 4-point scale:
Q1. It was clear what I was expected to learn in this unit.
Q2. The assessment requirements were clearly stated.
Q3. The assessment tasks were closely linked to the unit objectives.
Q4. The unit was well organised.
Q5. The learning resources (handouts, text, web resources, etc) were adequate for my study in the unit.
Q6. Overall, this unit was a good educational experience.
The SURF survey is used to evaluate all units offered by the University (except for those with special circumstances such as research, bridging, exchange, those taught through other institutions, and any others which the Head of School feels are more appropriately evaluated by other means).
A SURF survey is typically run in the final four weeks of the teaching period (exceptions to this will be made for units that run for less than eight weeks). The SURF response period closes seven days after the teaching period end date.
