Completing GCRL if you are a Bachelor of Philosophy (Hons) student

Do I have to take the unit GCRL (Global Challenges, Research and Leadership) if I am a Bachelor of Philosophy (Hons) student?

If you are a school leaver, GCRL is compulsory as it contains information that assists in navigating university studies.

If you are a transfer student, GCRL is optional as you may already have some of the skills covered in the unit (eg referencing, project proposals).

For example:

  • If you have just left year 12, you must enrol in GCRL as it will teach you valuable research and study skills.
  • If you have already studied at university level before transferring into the BPhil, you should already know how to reference assignments and work in groups. You can choose whether to attend GCRL or not, depending on what skills you have and how it fits into your timetable.
