OS-HELP loan explained

What is an OS-HELP loan?

An OS-HELP loan is provided by the Australian Government to assist if you are an Australian Commonwealth supported student studying or planning to study part of your degree overseas. If you are an eligible student you can borrow up to $6,470 in 2016 (indexed annually) per study period for one or two overseas study periods. The maximum loan for study in an eligible Asian country is $7,764 in 2016 (indexed annually).

To be eligible for OS-HELP you must have completed at least one full year of study at UWA (48 credit points) and still have at least 0.125 EFTSL (one unit / 6 credit points) to complete in your current UWA program on return from overseas study.

An OS-HELP loan debt is added to any accumulated HELP debt. More information on OS-Help is available on the Financial Aid website and the Study Assist website.
