Closing dates for student exchange and scholarships applications

When do applications for Student Exchange and scholarships close?

Student Exchange
There are two deadlines for exchange applications to study in the following year which generally have the standard closing dates listed below. You are advised to check to ensure there have been no changes to these dates:

  • First Friday in July for applications to go on exchange in semester one the following year.
  • First Friday in December for applications to go on exchange in semester two the following year.

Some Canadian universities have only one application deadline - in most cases this requires students to apply in the December round to go on exchange in semester two the following year or semester one the year after (ie. Applications for exchange in both semester 2 2019 and semester 1 2020 at any of the ONE DEADLINE Universities are due on Friday 1 December 2018 at 11.59pm.)

More information about important dates and how to apply is available on our website.

Exchange Short Term Programs
These programs are run on a rolling basis and are periodically advertised on Global Studio as their applications open. There is no standard application period for these programs, they are mainly run in the summer and winter breaks. Dates and availability will be confirmed with partner universities on an annual basis.

If you are applying for a scholarship the following application deadlines apply:

  • 1 May for programs taking place in semester two.
  • 1 November for programs taking place in semester one (includes the Australian summer period).

More sources of information about scholarships and other types of financial assistance can be found here. Remember that exchange students need to submit a separate application for scholarship to be considered for a UWA Study Abroad Scholarship. If you are unsure if you will be accepted into your overseas program we encourage you to apply anyway as the application can be withdrawn if it is no longer relevant, but we cannot accept late applications.
