Difference between approved leave and suspension of candidature

What is the difference between approved leave and suspension of candidature?

Approved leave is an application to take a semester or more off from your studies if you are enrolled in a coursework degree, including Masters by Thesis, and Coursework courses that are administered by the Faculty. You can submit an application for approved leave online using studentConnect.

Suspension of candidature applies to research-intensive courses such as PhD and Mphil, that are administered by the Graduate Research School. These enquires need to be directed to the Graduate Research and Scholarships Office.
