How to fix an INVALID unit

Why do I have an INVALID unit, how do I fix it?

When a unit is INVALID (also called BREACH), a task is automatically created for your Student Office to review it for you. 
 
What do you need to do? 
  1. Check studentConnect and the Handbook unit details page, or the list below to see why the unit is invalid
    1. If you're confident you meet the requirements, go to step 2
    2. If you don't meet the unit rules, withdraw from the unit 
  2. Complete your timetable in CAS
  3. Go to Class
  4. Keep an eye on your student email for advice from your Student Office 
 
Reasons a unit may be invalid:
  1. You have not met the unit pre-requisite/s or co-requisite/s
    Find your unit in the Handbook, and check under the 'Unit Rules' for any pre-requisites (unit/s you need to complete first) or co-requisites (unit/s you need to complete at the same time).
    If you have not enrolled in a co-requisite unit, you should be able to change your enrolment on studentConnect to add the unit or apply for a rule waiver via the Special Approval form. Refer to your Student Advising Office for advice on how this may impact your study plan.
    If you have not fulfilled the pre-requisite, delete the unit from your enrolment via studentConnect and enrol in a different unit, or apply for a rule waiver via the Special Approval form. 
    If you have met the pre-requisite, there is nothing to do, your Student Advising Office will assess your invalid for you. (See number 2 if you've completed study at another institution). 
  2. Your studies or qualifications are not recorded on studentConnect
    If you have applied for or are intending to apply for advanced standing credit, or have completed units via an approved cross-institutional or exchange program, ensure you have provided a copy of your formal academic transcript (or colour scan) to your Student Advising Office, to have this credit recognised. 
  3. You are not permitted to take the unit in your current course
    Find your unit in the Handbook, and check under the 'Unit Rules' and 'Notes' for any restrictions. If there is a restriction, delete the unit via studentConnect, or apply for a rule waiver via the Special Approval form (if you believe you have grounds to take the unit).
  4. You need to satisfy other conditions to study the unit
    Find your unit in the Handbook, and check under the 'Unit Rules' and 'Notes' for additional requirements.
    Examples of additional requirements include students enrolled in coursework dissertation units may need to confirm with their Student Advising Office that they have secured a dissertation supervisor, and students enrolling for the first time in Chinese or Indonesian language units will need to sit a language placement test.
  5. You are sitting a deferred exam for the pre-requisite unit
    Your INVALID will be resolved once you have passed your deferred exam. If you do not pass, contact your Student Advising Office for advice on your study plan.
  6. There is a quota (limited number of places) for the unit
    Your Student Advising Office will contact you if you have a place in the unit.
