How do I comply with ARC/NHMRC Open Access Funding Mandate Rules?

Recipients of ARC/NHMRC funding are required to comply with ARC and NHMRC Open Access policies which includes meeting the following criteria:
- Any peer-reviewed publications arising from ARC funding must be made openly accessible in the institutional repository within 12 months from the date of publication. ARC policy applies to all publications.
- Any peer-reviewed publications arising from NHMRC funding must be made openly accessible under a CC BY licence immediately on publication, as per the revised NHMRC Open Access Policy released 20th September 2022. NHMRC policy applies to peer-reviewed articles and conference papers. - Metadata for the peer-reviewed publications must be made openly accessible via an institutional repository as soon as possible but no later than 3 months from the date of publication.
- In cases where researchers may not be able to meet the requirements because of current legal or contractual obligations, Final Reports must provide reasons why publications derived from a Project, Award, or Fellowship have not been deposited in an open access institutional repository within the twelve month period.
NHMRC also strongly encourages researchers to take reasonable steps to share research data and associated metadata arising from NHMRC supported research. Refer to NHMRC’s further guidance and ARC Open Access Policy for more information.
