GCRL1000 is a compulsory foundation unit in the Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) degree. It contains information that assists in navigating university studies as well as skills specific to research.

This requirement also applies to students enrolled in the following combined degrees:
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) and Bachelor of Modern Languages
Transfer students may be exempted from GCRL1000 depending on what prior units they have taken and how it fits into their study plan.

Students who complete GCRL1000 do not need to complete SCOM1101 Communicating Science.

Note: GCRL1000 is different from the research unit GCRL2000, which is compulsory for all BPhil (Hons) students.
