Advertisement of job vacancies
Not all job vacancies are advertised!
In fact only about 25-30% of job vacancies make it to the newspaper or internet 'classifieds'. You need to develop a strategy to find opportunities in the 'hidden' job market. This strategy should be diverse and include activities such as joining the professional association relevant to your career goal, researching potential opportunities through newspaper articles and your network of contacts, approaching employers directly and seeking casual or part-time work experience to get your foot in the door. Most employers prefer to recruit someone they know rather than someone they don't so you need to get out there and make yourself known!
