How do I apply for a Juris Doctor Assured Pathway as a current UWA student?

Students who achieve a GPA of 6.0 or higher in their first 48 points of study in a relevant bachelor's degree at UWA may apply for a Juris Doctor assured pathway.
Applications should be submitted before the official release of results for the semester when you expect to complete your 48 points (ie. students studying full-time should submit an application before the release of results for second semester of their first year).
Applications from second and third year students may be considered but students who apply after completing more than 48 points must have achieved a GPA of 6.0 or higher in their first 48 points AND also have a current GPA of 6.0 or higher.
Students in the final semester of their undergraduate degree cannot apply for an assured pathway.
Applications are open all year round and assessed in two rounds at the end of each semester.
- Students who submit an application by 5 July 2024 will receive an outcome by 9 August 2024.
- Students who submit an application by 26 November 2024 will receive an outcome by 20 December 2024.

| Is this open to both international and domestic students? | Yes, applications are open to all undergraduate students and there is currently no quota for domestic or international cohorts. If a quota is applied each application will be ranked on academic merit. |

Can I apply if I have only completed 24 points? |
Yes, provided you are also currently enrolled in 24 points. Your application will be assessed after you complete a total of 48 points. |
| Can I apply if I have completed more than 48 points? |
Yes, but to be eligible for the assured pathway you will also need to have achieved a GPA of at least 6.0 within your first 48 points and also have a current GPA of at least 6.0.
Students in the final semester of their undergraduate degree cannot apply for the assured pathway and should instead submit an application for admission to the Juris Doctor.

Can an assured pathway be added to any course?

The Juris Doctor Assured Pathway can added to any comprehensive or specialist undergraduate degree at UWA.
Assured pathways cannot be added to combined Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

I have an assured pathway to another course, can I keep this and have the assured pathway to the Juris Doctor? |
No, you can only hold one assured pathway at a time at UWA. |

How long have I got to take up my assured pathway place after I complete my undergraduate degree? |
You have 3 years from the completion of your Undergraduate Degree to take up your assured pathway place to the Juris Doctor. |

Does the 48 points completed for eligibility include any credit? |
No, the 48 points must be all units completed at UWA. For example, if you have a GPA of 6.0 and have completed 48 points in your course but 12 points of that were for credit from previous study at an another institution, then you are not yet eligible to apply. |

Will I have the option to apply for the Juris Doctor at a later date? |
If your application is not successful you can still submit an application for the Juris Doctor upon completion of your undergraduate degree. |
| Will I need to maintain a GPA of 6.0 (after my first 48 points) to keep my assured pathway to the Juris Doctor? | No, but you will need to meet the minimum academic admission requirements for the Juris Doctor upon completion of your undergraduate degree. |
