How do students apply for LAWS5174 Legal Internship in the Juris Doctor program?

LAWS5174 Legal Internship is a dedicated clinical program in the Juris Doctor (JD) course. Students have the opportunity to work in a legal environment for academic credit for one day per week over second semester. A limited number of summer placements may be available. Students seeking a summer placement are required to attend all seminars during second semester before commencing their summer placement. The students’ experience in their placements will be supplemented by regular seminars and ongoing support.

How to apply:

All students seeking to apply for the Legal Internship must complete the online Expression of Interest Form during the EOI submission period. 

Please be aware that you cannot enrol in the unit until your Expression of Interest is accepted.

Notification of placements

Due to the volume of applications the application process is quite lengthy. Please be patient. Students will be notified whether they have been allocated a placement in early July 2025.

Fortnightly seminars

This unit involves work experience in a host organisation equivalent to one day per week for 12 weeks. In addition, the unit involves mandatory attendance at an introductory information session and attendance and participation at fortnightly seminars. Further details to be confirmed.
