Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students are enrolled in the following teaching periods:
Teaching period | Start date | End date | Census date |
RS1 | 1 January | 30 June | 31 March |
RS2 | 1 July | 31 December | 31 August |
RSSA | 1 January | 31 March | 22 January |
RSSB | 1 April | 30 June | 30 June |
RSSC | 1 July | 31 August | 16 July |
RSSD | 1 September | 31 December | 31 December |
Teaching periods are used to calculate your Equivalent Full Time Study Load (EFTSL), which is reported within the University and externally to Government. It's therefore important that your EFTSL is calculated correctly.
Changes between full-time and part-time enrolment and suspension of candidature will normally be approved only for full teaching periods, except in exceptional circumstances beyond the student's control. Exceptional circumstances may include a sudden serious illness, but do not include employment commitments (see your course rules for further information).
