Plan for your research internship with a REU organisation within the first 18 months of candidature (or 36 months if part time). Refer to steps to prepare for a research internship.
The best time to think about planning for a research internship is when you prepare your Research Proposal or achieve this milestone. Check if your internship involves travelling and/or ethics approval and allow additional time to obtain approval.
You can plan to do an internship anytime during your candidature. You can start the internship when you the Graduate Research School has approved your research internship agreement, and your milestones are met.
Sponsored students will need to submit a letter of approval from their sponsor when applying for a research internship.
For the next steps, refer to information about when and how to apply for a research internship.
