When to Apply:
You can plan for a future research internship with a REU partner organisation in your first year of study with a Letter of Intent.
If you know the details go straight to the Internship Agreement for an available research internship. Sponsored students need to a letter of approval from their sponsor supporting the research internship when applying. Check with your co-ordinating supervisor if you require ethics approval. Once you receive Graduate Research School (GRS) approval, you can commence the internship. Refer to types of research and development engagement equating to a research internship and examples of R&D activities.

How to Apply:
Bespoke research internship:
Complete the research internship agreement template, signed by yourself, your academic supervisor, your host organisation supervisor and submit it to the Graduate Research School via internships-grs@uwa.edu.au for approval. Use the Letter of Intent when details are yet to be worked out or when the 18-month window (36 months part time) is nearing. Use the Research Internship Agreement when the details have been worked out. Refer to templates.
Advertised research internship:
Save the advert & your application as a pdf, and email internships-grs@uwa.edu.au
Placements:
Such as R&D projects with an industry partner (such as arranged via a CRC or ITTC), or short term R&D related project related to employment, you'll need to obtain details of the arrangement in writing, agreed by you, and endorsed by your host organisation and the University.Save your documents and email internships-grs@uwa.edu.au

What happens next:
Your supervisor will then be contacted, on GRS approval, a fully signed agreement will be emailed to you for your records.
