Under the ‘Restricted access’ section in your Certificate of Final Thesis form, select the portion of your thesis the restricted access request pertains to and indicate an expiry date. If you are requesting restricted access to a specific section of the thesis, remove the section from your thesis, indicate ‘Restricted Access’ in the file name and upload it as a separate document. Please ensure that the uploaded file names are in chronological order.
A thesis, work or appendix will normally only be restricted for up to two years if it contains confidential material, if it was a condition imposed by the owner of private records and material used by the candidate, or if the candidate was in an employment or other contractual relationship with a third party that made the restriction a condition of the contract. If you are unsure, please discuss this with your supervisors.
If you are requesting an extension to a current embargo on your thesis, please contact us via askUWA at least a month before the expiry date to obtain an extension form.
