The McCusker Centre internships are individual community service placements, in which you undertake work directly for your host organisation. While Work-integrated Learning placements are usually directly related to your degrees, the Service Learning Internship offered by the McCusker Centre for Citizenship can offer more variability.

Student completing a Service-Learning Internship not only get hands-on learning and exposure to a professional work environment, they also benefit from the following known outcomes:

-          Increased social awareness and civic responsibility

Commitment to personal and social development

Ability to put their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to the test

Opportunity to practice reflection and increase intrinsic motivation

Opportunities to explore career pathways that are not always obvious.

Many of these benefits are highly regarded by companies who place value on their corporate social responsibility and therefore positively impact a student’s employability.
