Internship hours may count towards your Student visa work limit, even if your internship happens during the winter or summer break.

The main thing to check is whether your internship is a compulsory part of your course. This means it is required for you to complete your degree, not an optional or elective unit that you choose to do.

CRICOS is the official Australian Government register for courses offered to international students. If a work placement is listed as a required part of your CRICOS-registered course (Under "Work component"), the internship hours may not count towards your 48-hour per fortnight work limit.

Use the flowchart attached below to check whether your internship hours may count towards your work limit.
