There are six referencing styles used at UWA to acknowledge your sources. Each style has its own library guide found in the referencing dropdown menu.
The style you use will be determined by your Unit Coordinator. Different units may require different styles. Required styles will be stated in your Unit Outline or within assignment information, both found in the Learning Management System (LMS).
Within an assignment, you will need to provide a shortened in-text reference at the point at which you refer to a specific source. This pairs with the full end-text reference list your readers can use to locate the source. Examples of how to do this for each kind of source you might be referencing can be found in the individual style guides.
Different referencing styles have different formatting requirements for their in-text and end-text references. One style may use a number in the body of your assignment which links back to the reference list, while another may use the author and date of the publication.
