If you're a commencing student at UWA, the academic year is normally divided into two semesters:
- Semester 1 teaching dates run from late February to end of May, approximately. Exams normally run until mid-June.
Semester 2 teaching dates run from late July to end of October, approximately. Exams normally run until mid-November.
Semester dates and other teaching period dates are published each year on our Current Students' website. You can also check the Important Dates and the official Academic Calendar for more information.
For standard semester teaching periods, classes normally commence from the start date of the semester onwards. To register for classes, most units use the Class Allocation System (CAS).
You may have units taught in non-standard teaching periods, particularly if you are a postgraduate student. It is important to check your enrolled teaching periods by logging on to studentConnect (Course Details > Course & Unit or Statement of Enrolment).
For information on your course and units, including the class timetable, refer to the UWA Handbook or contact your Student Advising Office.
