It's not always possible for you to go on exchange in the last semester/year of your degree. You will need to obtain approval from your Student Advising Office.
Note: you must complete a third level unit from each of your majors here at UWA. This may make it difficult to go on exchange for your entire third year of your degree.
Also be aware, in most cases going on exchange in your last semester of your degree makes you ineligible to receive an OS-HELP Loan; to be eligible you must have at least one unit to return to complete at UWA.
If you are completing your UWA degree whilst on exchange there will be implications for when you are able to graduate. Due to differences in semester dates, completing your UWA degree while on exchange will likely prevent you from graduating at the ceremony immediately following your exchange. This is due to the time taken for UWA to receive your transcript from the host university, and the processing of this transcript.
If you will be completing the final semester of your UWA degree on exchange, you most likely will only be able to attend a Graduate Ceremony as outlined below:
- Completion at the end of UWA's semester 2 - Graduation Ceremony in July of the following year. For students studying in the UK, official transcripts may not be released until July or August. This means your Graduation Ceremony may not take place until December of the following year.
- Completion at the end of UWA's semester 1 - Graduation Ceremony in December.
