Prerequisites for the Juris Doctor

Are the Law and Society major or the Business Law major pre-requisites for the Juris Doctor (JD)?

The Law and Society major and/or the Business Law major are not required for entry into the Juris Doctor (JD).

The criteria for selection into the UWA JD via the standard pathway are:

  • a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA; and
  • a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.5 (out of 7.0), or equivalent, across all completed tertiary studies; and
  • a Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) score of at least 150 from an LSAT test taken within 5 years prior to applying for admission.*

Applications will be ranked based upon the GPA and LSAT score, weighted equally. Admission will be awarded to the highest ranked applicants who fall within the intake quota for that year.

* Direct Entry Pathway students are exempt from the LSAT requirement.

For alternative entry pathways visit the Law School website.
