What this means for you:
- DeepSeek is not accessible when using UWA networks or university-managed devices.
- UWA strongly advises against using DeepSeek on personal devices for any University-related activities, including study, research, or communication involving University data.
What is still permitted:
- You may use offline versions of DeepSeek models, where the tool runs entirely on your device and does not send any data to external servers.
- These offline models are considered lower risk and are allowed on UWA infrastructure. However, this may change if government guidance is updated.
